Living in Malaysia, far away from his homeland and being brought up by his single mother (Zeenat Aman), he's always been the shy types, never to open his heart out or to speak up for him. His best friends Salim and Harry on the other hand are 'over smart', who forever give him flop ideas to approach girls and how to win their attention. And when nothing works out, a pint of beer is enough to soothe their bruised egos (and faces).
One fine day, while travelling in the tube, Raja sees a girl standing dangerously close to the exit door. As he tries to take a closer look, he realizes that the girl is probably drunk and not in her sane senses. Being a gentleman, he approaches her to help. But the girl falls all over him calling him her lover, shouting at him for having left her alone and then demanding to be taken home with him. Saying this, she vomits on him and passes out leaving Raja to face the weird glances by his fellow passengers. Having no other option, Raja carries the girl with him to safety.
This is how Raja meets the girl of his dreams, Anamika. She is the daughter of one of the richest men in Malaysia (Raj Babbar), and is really spoilt brat. But slowly as Raja and Anamika start bumping into each other on various occasions and then meeting up regularly, Raja realizes she's not really a spoilt brat. She is someone, just like him, searching for love and being loved. But where Raja is an introvert, she likes to give a piece of her mind around and with poise.
The days pass and Raja gets more and more hooked on to her. He has to somehow express his love to her, without getting beaten up. One day, he gathers courage and goes and tells her everything that he feels for her. But here Raja's life takes a totally different turn and he's left on the thresholds of life. He is posed with a question, the answer to which would carve out the future of Raja and Anamika.
What exactly was Anamika reply that would change Raja's life forever? This contemporary love story is not just about Raja and Anamika, but also highlights the life of today's youth no matter in what country they reside, or which social strata they come from. With a lot of people migrating away from their roots, their next generation is even farther from the traditional values and culture. While the first generation still tries to imbibe them with traditional values, the exposure to the outerworld with different value systems often tends to confuse the youngsters and they are left fending for answers with regards to love, values, career and life itself.
This film isn't just for the youth really, but also for those people, who might have thought that they would give a better life to their children by earning more money and shifting to a better place, maybe even a different country. But are they really giving their children the better life' they hoped for?
